Today is not an ordinary day! This morning seven years ago my priest Per Arne Joelsson held a sending service in the crypt of the Cathedral in Lund, Sweden. This was the start of Pilgrimage for Peace, the first walk to Jerusalem. It stretched over 5234 km, 158 days.

On August the third 2020 Per Arne will once more send Jörgen on his way in the very same crypt which is built in the same spot as a previous cathedral built in 1085. The cathedral of today was erected early in the 1100 with the high altar consecrated in 1123 and the cathedral as a whole in 1145.

The crypt, which is very large, has certain parts of it designed to bring to mind certain places in the Holy City of Jerusalem. This was done so that poor people back in the day, who couldn’t travel to Jerusalem, could get closer to the Holy City by these symbolic parts of the crypt.

Idag är ingen vanlig dag! I morse för sju år sedan höll min präst Per Arne Joelsson en sändningsgudstjänst i kyrkan i Lund, Sverige. Detta var början på Pilgrimage for Peace, den första vandringen till Jerusalem. Den sträckte sig över 5234 km, 158 dagar.

Den 3 augusti 2020 kommer Per Arne än en gång att sända iväg Jörgen i samma krypta, som är byggd på samma plats som en tidigare katedral som byggdes 1085. Dagens domkyrka uppfördes tidigt 1100 med högaltaret invigd 1123 och katedralen som helhet 1145.

Kryptan, som är mycket stor, har vissa delar av den utformad för att påminna om vissa platser i den heliga staden Jerusalem. Detta gjordes så att fattiga människor tillbaka på den tiden, som inte kunde resa till Jerusalem, kunde komma närmare den heliga staden med dessa symboliska delar av kryptan.
